Lindsay Dee Lohan (born July 2, 1986) is an American actress, model and pop music singer. Lohan started in show business as a child fashion model for magazine advertisement and television commercials. At age 10, she began her acting career in a soap opera; at 11, she made her motion picture debut by playing identical twins in Disney’s 1998 remake of The Parent Trap.

Lohan rose to stardom with her leading roles in the films Freaky Friday, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, Mean Girls and Herbie: Fully Loaded. Her subsequent roles include appearances in A Prairie Home Companion and Bobby. In 2004, Lohan launched a second career in pop music yielding the albums Speak (2004) and A Little More Personal (Raw) (2005).

Lohan has received media attention apart from her acting and singing careers. Her multiple arrests and use of alcohol and drugs have become regular tabloid news.

Family life

Lohan was born on East 236th Street in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx and grew up in Merrick and Cold Spring Harbor on Long Island. She is the eldest child of Donata "Dina" (née Sullivan), a former Rockette, and Michael Douglas Lohan, Sr., a onetime actor. Lohan has three younger siblings, all of whom are actor-models: brother Michael Jr., whom she affectionately calls "Punk," appeared with her in The Parent Trap as the "Lost Boy at Camp"; sister Aliana had a small role in Freaky Friday, as did brother Dakota, the youngest Lohan child, whom she once saved from drowning.

Lohan is of Irish and Italian heritage and was raised as a Catholic. Her maternal family were "well known Irish Catholic stalwarts" in Merrick, with her great-grandfather, John L Sullivan, being a co-founder of the Pro-life Party in Long Island. In 2005, Lohan explained to a TEENick audience that she had decided to use Morgan as her middle name because it sounded more professional.

Lohan attended public schools on Long Island, including Sanford H. Calhoun High School. She finished her studies at home through Laurel Springs School of Ojai, California.

Dina claimed that she worked as a Rockette, though Radio City Music Hall records have not verified this claim.

Michael Lohan inherited his family’s pasta business, which he later sold to trade in futures (briefly becoming President of New York Futures Traders). Sentenced to four years in prison in the late 1980s, he spent much of his daughter’s preteen years in prison for securities fraud. More recently, he worked as an investment banker, securing funding for independent films. In 2005, he was sent back to prison for nearly two years, released in March 2007, for "aggravated unlicensed driving" and attempted assault. Michael currently works with Teen Challenge.

In December 2005, Michael and Dina Lohan signed a separation agreement. In August 2007, Lohan’s parents announced that their divorce proceedings had been finalized

Early career

Lohan began her career with Ford Models at age three, but found little work as a fashion model. She persisted and eventually appeared in more than 100 print-ads for companies like Toys "R" Us. She also modeled for Calvin Klein Kids (usually with siblings Michael and Ali) and Abercrombie Kids. Through young adulthood, Lohan was featured in such magazines as Vogue, Elle, Bliss (UK), Хай Клуб (High Club, Bulgaria), and Blenda (Japan).

Lohan’s first auditions for television work did not go well; by the time she tried out for a Duncan Hines commercial, she told her mother that she would give up if she did not get the job. She was hired, and went on to appear in over 60 commercials, including a Jell-O spot with Bill Cosby. Her ad work led to roles in soap operas, and she was already considered a show-business veteran in 1996 when she landed the role of Alexandra "Alli" Fowler on Another World, "where she delivered more dialogue than any other 10-year-old in daytime serials" of the time.

Lohan gave up Another World for the big screen when director Nancy Meyers cast her to play the dual roles of the estranged twin sisters who try to reunite their long-divorced parents (Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson) in the 1998 remake of The Parent Trap. Hired in 1997 at age 10, Lohan was 11 when filming began in England and California (in Los Angeles and the Napa Valley). "I left school for eight months," she said. "When I came back, my friends [asked], ‘Where’d you go?’ I said, ‘My family and I went on a long vacation.’ Then the movie came out, and they were, like, ‘Um, Lindsay? That’s you in Parent Trap,’ and I said, ‘Oh, yeah. I also did this movie while we were gone.’" Trap was well-received for a family comedy, bringing in US$92 million worldwide. Film critic Janet Maslin found Lohan’s dual performances so forceful "that she seems to have been taking shy violet lessons from Sharon Stone." Critic Kenneth Turan called Lohan "the soul of this film as much as Hayley Mills was of the original, and … she is more adept than her predecessor at creating two distinct personalities".

She starred in two original television movies, Life-Size (2000) (with Tyra Banks) and Get a Clue (2002). She also played Bette Midler’s daughter in the first episode of the short-lived series, Bette (2000), but Lohan, then 14, quit when the production moved from New York to Los Angeles. In 2001, she hosted the ABC-TV commercial series commemorating Walt Disney’s 100th birthday during a rebroadcast of The Parent Trap.

Following a brief hiatus, Lohan won a lead role in another Disney remake: Freaky Friday (2003), starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Through 2005, Friday was Lohan’s biggest commercial film success, earning US$160 million worldwide.

Career development

In 2004, Lohan was given the lead in two films, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (her first feature that was not a remake) and Paramount’s Mean Girls, both released in 2004. Drama Queen was a modest success at the box office, grossing about US$30 million, but was a failure with critics. "Though still a promising star, Lohan will have to do a little penance before she’s forgiven for Confessions," Robert K. Elder wrote.

Far more successful was Mean Girls, her first PG-13 (and first non-Disney) film. Her breakout lead performance pushed the critical and commercial hit to gross US$128 million worldwide, "cementing her status as the new teen movie queen," wrote Brandon Gray. "Lohan dazzles us once more," said Steve Rhodes. "The smartly written script is a perfect match for her intelligent brand of comedy." Mean Girls was scripted by Tina Fey and featured several alumni of Saturday Night Live; Lohan was asked to host the show three times, in 2004, 2005, and 2006.

In 2005, Lohan became the first living person to have a "My Scene Goes Hollywood" doll released by Mattel. She also voiced herself in the direct-to-DVD feature film based on the dolls.

Lohan returned to Disney for Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005), the fifth film in the Herbie series. Her popularity allowed her to choose from a wider variety of projects; Lohan felt Herbie would help her make the transition into more grown-up roles. "In most of my other films, I was in high school," she said. "Here, [my character is] just out of college. It’s nice to be able to do something that I think will be acceptable to the fan base I’ve accumulated from my Disney movies, but subconsciously they’ll see me getting older and maturing." Fully Loaded earned $144,146,816 worldwide.

Her next film in wide release, Just My Luck, opened in May 2006 to poor reviews and earned only $38 million worldwide. The following month, A Prairie Home Companion, in limited release ended its run with $25,648,948 globally. "Lohan rises to the occasion, delivering a rock-the-house version of ‘Frankie and Johnny’," wrote Peter Travers. Lohan completed filming the independent Emilio Estevez film, Bobby, opposite Elijah Wood, in December 2005; the film débuted at the Venice Film Festival on September 5, 2006, and was released in theaters on November 23, 2006, though it earned a weak $19,560,892 worldwide with mixed reviews. She then appeared in Chapter 27 as a John Lennon fan who befriends Mark David Chapman (Jared Leto) on the day he murders the singer. It began filming in New York on January 9, 2006, and had wrapped by March.

Lohan was voted #10 on the list of "100 Sexiest Women" by readers of FHM. Maxim placed her at #3 on its 2006 Hot 100 list. In 2007, Lohan placed at #1 on the Maxim "Hot 100".

In February 2007, shortly after admitting herself to a medical rehabilitation facility, Lohan relinquished the role of Hester Worsley in a film adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s A Woman of No Importance. The role then passed to Jessica Biel.

On May 11, 2007, Georgia Rule was released in which Lohan starred alongside Felicity Huffman and Jane Fonda. The film — whose production received adverse publicity when a letter from a studio executive to Lohan criticizing her professionalism was made public — received mostly negative reviews. It grossed US$6.7 million at the box office in its opening weekend and to date has grossed over US$22 million worldwide.

On July 24, 2007, Lohan - in the wake of her arrest withdrew from a scheduled appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno to promote her starring role as a stripper in the film I Know Who Killed Me. The film premiered "to an abysmal $3.5 million" and earned Lohan two nominations for worst actress at the Golden Raspberry Awards. She came in first and second, tying with herself.

Entertainment Weekly quoted the head of a major film studio as saying, "Her career was over long before she had these troubles… Right now, she’d have to pay a studio to get herself into a movie." The article continues, "There’s the L.A. bar scene that serves underage stars and Hollywood’s compulsion to turn child actors into products, plus a frenzied 21st-century media culture that has made Lohan and other celebs into exotic prey in flashbulb cages." ABC News quoted publicist Michael Levine as calling Lohan unemployable "for the next 18 months." The head of a talent agency agreed, noting that her personal issues likely made the insurance and other costs required for any film production to proceed prohibitively expensive. James Robinson, the producer of Georgia Rule, stated he would still like to work with her. "She’s a good person who’s making some bad choices. She needs time to get the proper medical care, but when she’s in the right emotional state, I’d put her in a movie right away…. She’s probably one of the most talented young women in the movie business today."

Lohan plans to travel and study in Europe after leaving rehab. Her mother told Us Weekly that "She wants to go abroad and study in school. We’ll see what happens."

In the February 25, 2008 Spring Fashion edition of New York, Lohan re-created Marilyn Monroe’s final photo shoot, known as the Last Sitting, including nudity. Her mother said doing the photo shoot was an "honor."

Lohan makes a cameo in a music video for the single "Everyone Nose" by Pharrell Williams-fronted band N*E*R*D. A song about the restroom drug usage of young party-goers, the video also has appearances by friends Cory Kennedy, Samantha Ronson, and rapper Kanye West. Shot in early April, a sneak preview of the video leaked onto Internet blogs in May, with the entire clip premiering a week later.

Lohan is the face of the 2008 Visa Swap UK fashion campaign. Lindsay was photographed for the campaign in early 2008 in Los Angeles, CA.

Return to acting
Lohan was going to star in the movie Poor Things, but had to withdraw form the role due to scheduling conflicts.

Upon leaving rehab in 2007, Lohan began work on the tango biopic Dare to Love Me, the film’s release date is scheduled to be sometime in 2008.

In late February 2008, it was announced that Lohan would be joining the cast of Ye Olde Times alongside Jack Black , however, it was later announced that Lohan is no longer a part of the movie.

E! News has also recently reported Lohan’s involvement in the movie Manson Girls playing Manson Family cult member Nancy Pitman, however, she has recently withdrawn from this role to pursue other offers.

It was recently reported that Lohan has been cast to star in the forthcoming film comedy Labor Pains, Lohan will play a young woman who pretends to be pregnant to avoid being fired. The film is slated to start filming in early June 2008.

Lohan made a guest appearance on the season 2 finale of ABC’s Ugly Betty which aired on May 22, 2008; she played an old schoolmate of America Ferrera’s character Betty Suarez. Lohan is also expected to appear in five episodes of Ugly Betty next season.

MOM DINA’S MISSING CAREER

June 6, 2007 — DINA Lohan, the leggy mother of Lindsay, is always described as a former Radio City Music Hall Rockette - but she’s not. After an inquiry from The Post, a spokeswoman for Radio City called back to say an exhaustive search found no record of Dina Lohan, or Donata Sullivan (her maiden name), ever being a Rockette. Execs at Cablevision, which owns Radio City, were said to be indignant anyone would claim to be a Rockette who wasn’t. "It’s like claiming to have a degree from Harvard when you don’t. It’s a big deal to be a Rockette," said our source. A Google search of "Dina Lohan Rockette" yesterday turned up 884 links. Biographies of Dina, 44, also say the 5-foot-111/2 blonde acted on the Broadway stage and in commercials - also apparently not true. "Look in SAG [the Screen Actors Guild]. Look in AFTRA [American Federation of Televison & Radio Artists]. Dina isn’t a member," said a family source. "She never did a Broadway show. She never did ads."

Giada Pamela De Laurentiis (born August 22, 1970) is an Italian American chef, writer, television personality, and the current host of the Food Network programs Everyday Italian, Behind the Bash, Giada’s Weekend Getaways, and Giada in Paradise. She also appears regularly as a contributor and guest co-host on NBC’s Today. De Laurentiis is the founder of the catering business GDL Foods.

Personal life

De Laurentiis was born Giada Pamela De Benedetti in Rome, Italy, the eldest child of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and her first husband, actor-producer Alex De Benedetti, who was a close associate of his wife’s father, the film producer Dino De Laurentiis. Her parents were married in February 1970, just months before her birth. After their parents’ divorce, De Laurentiis and her siblings moved to Southern California, where Giada and her siblings took their mother’s surname.

Her grandparents are producer Dino De Laurentiis and Italian film star Silvana Mangano. Her siblings include sister Eloisa, a makeup artist, and brothers Dino Alexander, a Hollywood film editor, and Igor. Her stepfather is producer Ivan Kavalsky.

De Laurentiis graduated from Marymount High School and holds a bachelor’s degree in social anthropology from UCLA (1996).

In 2003, she married Todd Thompson, a fashion designer for Anthropologie. The two had been dating since 1991. The couple’s first child, Jade Marie De Laurentiis Thompson, was born on March 29, 2008.

De Laurentiis was named number 96 on AskMen.com’s list of "The Top 99 Most Desirable Women of 2008." De Laurentiis, dubbed as "a petite powerhouse" by Town & Country magazine, stands "just under five feet two."

Career

De Laurentiis, a self-proclaimed chocoholic, studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France with aspirations of becoming a pastry chef. After returning to the United States, she became a professional chef working in several Los Angeles restaurants, notably the Wolfgang Puck-owned Spago. She later worked as a food stylist, and was contacted by Food Network after styling a piece in Food & Wine Magazine in 2001.

Her cooking program, Everyday Italian, has been broadcast on Food Network since 2003. On her Chefography (a Food Network biography program), she admitted that she never wanted to be in her "family business" of show business. She felt very uncomfortable in front of the camera when she first began hosting Everyday Italian, but has since become more relaxed and open on air. When the program first aired, Food Network received emails accusing the network of hiring a model or actress pretending to cook instead of a real chef.

De Laurentiis began hosting Behind the Bash in October 2006. The program examines the catering process behind big event extravaganzas such as the Grammy Awards. In January 2007, a third De Laurentiis-hosted show, Giada’s Weekend Getaways, debuted on Food Network. On this show, De Laurentiis travels to a featured locale (such as Seattle, South Beach, San Francisco, Napa and Jackson Hole, Wyoming) and visits her favorite local culinary destinations.

On a November 2006 episode of Iron Chef America, De Laurentiis and Bobby Flay competed against, and were defeated by, Rachael Ray and Mario Batali.

In 2007, De Laurentiis appeared as a presenter on the inaugural Food Network Awards. In June 2007, she hosted a two-part Food Network special entitled Giada in Paradise, featuring the two locales of Santorini, Greece and Capri, Italy. De Laurentiis also made several appearances as a guest judge on the third season of The Next Food Network Star, which aired in 2007. Beginning in 2008, De Laurentiis will star in a new Food Network program entitled Giada at Home.

De Laurentiis is a spokesperson for the pasta manufacturer Barilla.

Giada De Laurentiis Loves Tomatoes

On average, this sexy television show chef uses two thirty-two-ounce cans of tomatoes every day. Over the course of a year, that’s…a lot of red sauce. And we’ve got the pictures to prove it.

In her crusade to show the world how much enjoyment can be derived from Italian cooking, De Laurentiis goes through a lot of tomatoes. An average of two thirty-two-ounce cans per day (as shown in the first slide), to be precise. So in a month that would be… well, you can see that in the second photo. "Canned tomatoes are packaged when they’re the ripest and the sweetest," she says, "so there’s really no reason to go with fresh."

Giada’s Homemade Sauce
- 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 small onions, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 2 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 carrots, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt, plus more to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more to taste
- 2 32-ounce cans crushed tomatoes
- 2 dried bay leaves

In a large pot, heat the oil over a medium-high flame. Add the onions and garlic and sauté until the onions are translucent, about 10 minutes. Add the celery, carrots, and 1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper. Sauté until all the vegetables are soft, about 10 minutes. Add the tomatoes and bay leaves, and simmer uncovered over low heat until the sauce thickens, about 1 hour. Remove and discard the bay leaves. Season with more salt and pepper to taste.

Makes about 2 quarts.

How to get the sauce to stick to the pasta
"Before you strain the pasta, save 1/4 cup of the pasta water," says De Laurentiis. "Then drain the pasta, add a little Parmesan cheese, then add your tomato sauce — and then mix in the reserved pasta water. The starches in the water help the sauce stick. It comes out really nice and creamy."

Vanessa Joy Minnillo (born November 9, 1980) is an American
television personality. A former Miss Teen USA, she is mostly known for hosting
Total Request Live on MTV from 2003–2007 as well her past reporting as a New York-based

in Angeles City, Pampanga, Philippines. She is currently dating Aria Karimi and

Early life

Her
father, Vince, is an American of Italian and Irish descent. Her mother, Helen
Berecero, is a Filipina from the province of Pampanga on Luzon, whom Vince met
while based in the Philippines, though Minnillo referred to her mother as Polynesian
on at least one occasion. Vanessa has an adopted brother, Vincent, who is two
years older than her.

As a child, Minnillo’s family moved numerous times due to her father’s work
in the United States Air Force, including living in Washington, California,
Nevada, Florida, Germany and Japan and placing Minillo in eight different schools
within nine years. Minillo’s parents separated in 1983, divorced in 1986.

Subsequent to Helen’s remarriage to a United States Air Force serviceman, Minnillo
and her brother moved to Turkey with their mother and stepfather. By 1990, as
a result of Desert Shield, Minnillo and her brother returned to their father’s
home, eventually settling in Charleston, South Carolina where she attended Bishop
England High School and was a cheerleader.

Minnillo is fluent in English and has passing knowledge
of two languages spoken in the Philippines: Kapampangan and Tagalog. She has
a close relationship with her stepmother Donna Minnillo and brother Vincent,
but is estranged from her mother.

Minnillo was in a sporadic three-year relationship with New York Yankees
shortstop and captain Derek Jeter beginning November 2003-2006. She is currently
dating Nick Lachey, after meeting for a video shoot for Lachey’s

Right now there’s a veritable army of paparazzi waiting for you
outside of this hotel bar. What about them pisses you off the most?
When they fabricate a story. That drives me crazy. The reality is that the truth
doesn’t sell. They went to lunch, they had a good time, they looked happy. Who
wants to buy that? So they exaggerate the details. It makes me cry; it really
does. People say, “Don’t let it get to you,” but I’m human. If I was acting
in a certain way, then I’d have to deal with the consequences. But when it’s
like, “That didn’t even happen”—that’s when it’s infuriating, because now it’s
in print and it’s their word against mine. I’m 25 years old, and I like to have
a drink once in a while. But I don’t need to see a picture of me everywhere
with a drink in my hand with a headline that says I was giving someone a lap
dance!

Do you miss your privacy?
I don’t have a private life. People don’t realize how powerful the media is.
It’s a beast. It’s there to build you up and take you down. It’s kind of bittersweet,
you know. Like right now we’re doing an interview for a magazine that I love.
You need to do press, but you don’t ask for it to take over your life. I understand
that when I go to work, the paparazzi will be there. But I don’t understand
why they need to be down my back when I go out of my apartment at midnight to
get some ice cream. She went to Baskin Robbins and got two scoops of mint chocolate
chip! Dunt dun duh!

Do you feel misunderstood?
I’m feeling more so now. At work I don’t put on an act; my job is me being me.
It’s like a reality show, because for an hour a day I’m live and it’s just me.
My whole life I’ve been scrutinized because I’m ethnic. My mother is Polynesian,
and my dad is Irish-Italian. So I’ve had to prove myself from the inside out.

How so?
Well, I grew up in Charleston, South Carolina—a good-ol’-boy town—and all my
friends had blonde hair and blue eyes, and there I was, looking like I look.
People would look at me and think, She must have a dark side. I’ve had to learn
that you can’t please all the people all the time.

Here’s your chance to set the record straight about who you really
are.
I’m strong, smart, and hard-working. I love the photos for this article, the
whole Bonnie and Clyde theme. In a way that’s what all this feels like. Whether
it’s my family, my friends, my man, or just myself—we’re battling this crazy
world and trying to get through it with a smile.

Who is the best interview you’ve ever done?
I can’t think of one, but some moments stick out. Sitting down with Robert Redford,
who was wearing the tightest jeans, looking handsome as ever. That man has an
aura. Watching Clive Davis sitting at a piano with Barry Manilow in a suite
at the Mandarin Oriental…and we’re all singing “Mandy” together. That was a
moment. Having Jim Carrey tell me I was funny. Seeing Beyonce and Madonna getting
nervous backstage.

What’s the one thing that people don’t understand about celebrities?
That they’re just as normal and down-to-earth as everyone else. They wake up
in the morning, go to bed at night, and have bad days. When the Olsen twins
were on, we asked them, “When was the last time you cried?” And they were like,
“This morning.”

How strange is it to go from reading the news to actually becoming
it?
When I do interviews with other celebrities, I never ask questions I wouldn’t
answer. I don’t want to pry in anyone’s life. I try to reword or pass it on
to another journalist or nix it altogether. You have to remember your audience,
too—13-year-old girls watch TRL. But it’s really hard for me to do what I do
and keep my integrity and values and morals and ethics.

Where do you see your career heading?
Right now MTV and Entertainment Tonight are my priorities. I’m not going to
look past them to see what’s next. I don’t know. You never know where things
can go. When I moved to L.A. at 19, I was like, The last thing I want to do
is a soap opera, and I never want to host—hosting is boring, and soap operas
are cheesy. Naturally, my first job was The Bold and the Beautiful, and I loved
it. Right after that I was hosting. On one hand, I can’t wait to find the man
of my dreams, get married, and have a family. I can’t wait to get pregnant,
because I can let it all hang out. You don’t have to be perfect. Everyone is
nice to you. People give up their seats for you. But on the other, I might get
that movie deal and find that that’s my bag.

How soon do you want to get married?
I don’t know. Someone who says, “I love you, I want you, I need you, but I’m
just not ready,” will never be ready—and they’re probably not the right one
for you. Men are going to hate hearing this, but women have a sixth sense, especially
about love. Men, it takes a little more convincing. They’ll think, I love her,
but I really want to hang out with the boys tonight and see the game. But I’m
not hating—I’d turn down a night out with the man for courtside seats any day!

If women have intuition, what do men have?
Honesty. Guys don’t know how to sugarcoat things. It’s all black or white—which
is good sometimes, even though it might hurt. Guys know more about women than
you think they do, and I love them for that. It’s such a game. Women tell me
to play hard to get, but I don’t know if I always agree. I might be busy, but
as soon as my man needs me, I’m there. Guys like a little bit of a chase, but
not so much of a chase that it’s work.

Which town is better: L.A. or New York?
I love L.A., but I love New York more. Ironically, I’ve found a tighter niche
in New York. New York is like, How are you? I like you. You’re cool. Let’s hang
out. I’m going to miss that if I leave. I’ll have to eventually, because I’m
not raising a family here. I don’t want my four-year-old on Canal Street hawking
fake Louis Vuitton: “Yo, this stuff is real! I just got it off the truck, playa!”

Jenna Fischer (born March 7, 1974) is an Emmy Award-nominated
American actress, best known for her role as Pam Beesly in the U.S. adaptation

Personal life

Fischer
was born Regina Marie Fischer in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Anne and
Jim Fischer, and was raised in St. Louis, Missouri. She attended Pierremont
Elementary School, and later attended Nerinx Hall High School in suburban Webster
Groves. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Truman State University.

On October 7, 2000, Fischer married Hollywood filmmaker James Gunn, the brother
of Fischer’s lifelong friend Sean Gunn.

In May 2007, while attending the NBC upfronts for her role in The Office, Fischer
fell down a flight of stairs in a Manhattan bar and fractured her back. She
returned to the set in time for the fourth season’s first episode.

On September 5, 2007, Fischer and Gunn announced they were separating after
nearly seven years of marriage. In a radio interview during the publicity tour
of The Promotion, she said that her divorce was finalized.

Fischer talked about how a rumor of her dating actor
David Spade affected her relationship with her former in-laws in a June 2008
Emmy roundtable interview with The Hollywood Reporter, :

I just had it happen to me, a total and complete lie. They said I was getting
a divorce - which is true - but also that I’d gone out on a date with David
Spade. I’ve never even met him! I’d just gotten separated and told my ex-in-laws
at brunch that I wasn’t seeing anyone else. That planted a seed of doubt, and
it hurt me a lot.

Television and feature films

LolliLove

Fischer wrote, directed, and starred in the mockumentary LolliLove, co-starring
her ex-husband James Gunn, Linda Cardellini, Judy Greer, Lloyd Kaufman and Jason
Segel. For her role in the film, Fischer was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Emerging
Actor Award. Her experience on the low-budget film (principal photography cost
$1500, mostly for food) discouraged her from any future directorial aspirations,
as she told a St. Louis arts and entertainment magazine:

The directing was exhausting and the writing was painful. It was very difficult
to direct and star in a movie. We also had a very small crew so I did a lot
of things a normal director doesn’t have to do, like make the props and serve
lunch. I was simultaneously getting into character, going over my lines, set
dressing the next shot, coaching an actor, and brainstorming with my D.P. I’m
good at multitasking, but that was too much for me. I couldn’t enjoy any one
part the way I would have liked. I think I’ll stick to acting.

As Pam Beesly, the receptionist on NBC’s hit series The Office, Jenna Fischer
is admirably efficient and punctual—and cute and lovable. So I demanded to know
why she was late phoning me in real life. Here’s her wonderful excuse:

“I just moved and was showing my cat around the new garden,” she explained.
“He got away from me, and I knew I was supposed to call, but I was terrified
I’d lose him in a neighborhood he didn’t know. He’s 15 years old and weighs
15 pounds, and that’s why I was late.”

This is quite a gal. When I asked Jenna why she’d
just moved, she surprised me with her candor. “ My husband and I recently separated,”
she said. “It’s sad, but we remain close. My husband got the dog, and I got
the cat. But the dog and cat miss each other, so we must have a sleepover one
of these days.” Which was my cue to suggest that maybe she and her husband might
also reunite. “ Everything is possible,” she said brightly. “That would be the
best!”

Her parents, a schoolteacher mother and an engineer dad, still live in the St.
Louis area, where Jenna grew up. But her new house is in the San Fernando Valley,
convenient to where they shoot The Office.

When Jenna first moved to California and was adding increasingly
ripe roles to her resume, she continued to work as a secretary in the L.A. office
of a Boston investment firm.

“I had a great boss who covered for me whenever I had an audition,” she said.
“My husband said, ‘ Why don’t you quit?’ but I was still struggling, and I stayed
on the job. There’s not a real generosity of spirit among actors in L.A., and
my boss was so supportive. Now he delights in getting pickled while watching

Lively,
the youngest of five children, was born in Tarzana, California, the daughter
of actors Ernie and Elaine Lively. Raised as a Southern Baptist, Lively has
two sisters, Lori and Robyn, and two brothers, Jason and Eric. Both of her parents
and all four of her siblings are, or have been, in the entertainment industry.
Her brother-in-law is Bart Johnson. As a child, Lively was homeschooled. Lively
attended Burbank High School in Burbank where she participated in the National
Show Choir, was senior class president and a cheerleader. Lively has said that

been friends since childhood. In late 2007, it was reported that Lively was
dating her Gossip Girl co-star and former childhood classmate Penn Badgley,
though Lively refused to ever comment on the rumors - in Teen Vogue interview,
when asked if she was dating Badgley. Lively said that “I try not to talk about
my dating life. I want to, but once you start, it’s all downhill from there.”.
In May 2008, People magazine published photos of Lively and Badgley kissing

The CW’s Gossip Girl has put the spotlight on Blake
Lively, who plays Serene van der Woodsen in the series, but the young
actress is quick to point out the differences between her and the character
that she plays.

“Serena was brought up very differently than I was brought up,” Lively
said in an interview with the Associated Press. “Serena was given everything
her whole life. … I grew up in a small little town in California - Burbank
. I went to high school and what we would do on our nights off was go to a school
fundraiser, go to a football game, where these people have masquerade balls
or go lounge at The Palace Hotel and sip martinis.”

However, she did also recognize that she and Serena had some commonalities
when it came to dealing with fame and popularity. In fact, she said that both
of them try their best to be a “good person” despite the pressures
of being in the spotlight.

“At the heart of it all, Serena really wants to be a good person - despite
all odds, despite all the chaos that’s going on around her and all the other

her as the Serena from Gossip Girl.

“It’s pretty crazy. I get recognized not only as Serena van der Woodsen,
but people know my own name,” Lively told the Associated Press. “Everyone
from young girls, teenage girls, women in their 30s and 40s to, like, Guido-type
guys, like frat boys. One day these, like, thuggish guys were, like, coming out,
rolling out of their Escalade and they go - they’re like, ‘Man, that’s gossip
girl!’ And they were, like, freaking out. It was so strange how many people would
just get giddy over it. And it’s people that you would not expect at all.”
